"The world needs what makes you different. When you lean into your God-given strengths and show up unapologetically authentic, you serve others in a bigger way and make a greater impact."
Megan’s story is one of courage, purpose, and trusting where life leads. After building a successful career in pharmacy and healthcare leadership, she took a leap of faith to create Conquer Consulting, where she now helps leaders find clarity, confidence, and joy in their work. In our interview, Megan shares how her faith, family, and passion for helping others shaped her journey, why authentic leadership matters, and the impact she hopes to leave on every person she meets. She is an inspiring reminder that sometimes the greatest calling begins when you’re willing to take the first step into the unknown.
I am Megan Martin. I grew up in Germantown, as one of Bobby’s girls (Beckmann)! And I was very good friends with Anna all throughout our childhood years, from sleepovers to cheerleading at Mater Dei, we shared lots of fun memories! I now live in Troy, IL with my two teenagers, Lucas and Lainey and three pups, Chance, Oliver, and Lola. Outside of being a mom, I am very passionate about the work I do every day. While I started my professional life as a Pharmacist in 2006 and spent years as an operational leader in healthcare, over time, I found myself drawn less to the technical side of the work and more to the human side. I was often the person others came to when things felt heavy, unclear, or broken, whether that was navigating change, managing conflict, or trying to lead teams through demanding circumstances. I saw talented, well-intentioned professionals struggling not because they lacked capability, but because they lacked support, clarity, and space to grow. That realization sparked a deeper shift. I LOVED these types of conversations, but I began to realize I could help an even greater number of people by having them with professionals outside of just the Pharmacy world. I could make an even greater impact by focusing just on these types of coaching conversations regardless of the industry someone was in. And so, after much prayer and probably a bit too much overthinking, I made the leap from pharmacy into business ownership, launching what would become Conquer Consulting in 2018.
Honestly, I’m motivated by the “lightbulb moments” and seeing clients finding JOY in their work again over time. I love when someone walks into a conversation feeling heavy and walks out with clarity and a plan. I’m wired for helping people sort through the noise, name what’s really happening, and move forward with confidence. Personally, I’m motivated by purpose. I believe God places gifts in us for a reason, and I truly feel this work is part of mine. I’m inspired by helping leaders create environments that are healthy, accountable, and supportive, where people can do good work without losing themselves. When leaders lead with integrity and intention, it impacts far more than the workplace. That kind of ripple effect is what drives me.
One challenge I’ve overcome is learning how to rebuild during a season of personal change, while still leading, parenting, and running a business. There were moments where I felt like I had to be the strong one all the time, and it was honestly exhausting. But that season forced growth in me. It reminded me to not just rely on hustle or emotion, but to truly stay consistent with my daily business activities. I had to maintain a mindset of continuing to show up, doing the right actions, even on the hard days, in order to create a business that’s sustainable, not just successful in a “good month.” It also deepened my faith. I learned to pray through decisions, trust God with the parts I couldn’t control, and keep moving forward one aligned step at a time.
If I’m being honest, what I hope to accomplish through my work is helping people feel more fulfilled at work, not just productive. I want leaders to align the way they work and lead with their personal values, so they’re not just checking boxes or surviving the week, but actually doing work that feels meaningful and sustainable for them. And I’ll feel like I’ve really accomplished my mission when the impact goes beyond the one person I’m coaching. When a leader starts leading from what matters most to them, it creates a ripple effect. Teams get healthier, people feel more supported, and the workplace becomes happier, more fulfilling, and honestly even more fun! Ultimately, I want to help create work environments where people can do excellent work without losing themselves, and where leadership brings out the best in others.
Oh I love this question! My Christian faith has been the biggest influence on my journey. It’s the foundation for how I think about leadership, stewardship, and responsibility, and it’s the filter I use when I’m making decisions. I’m deeply values-driven, and I truly believe leaders have both an opportunity and an obligation to create healthy, psychologically safe environments where people can grow, contribute, and thrive. That belief shows up in how I coach, how I listen, and how I help leaders navigate hard decisions with integrity. Right behind that, my family roots and upbringing shaped me in a huge way. My parents not only provided me with rooted stability and structure, they also gave me immense support and belief as I tried new things and took risks, especially when I was stepping into new seasons professionally. One thing my dad reminded me of as my career was shifting was, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life!” That has stayed with me, and honestly, it’s a big part of why I’m so passionate about helping people find work that feels meaningful and aligned. My children have also been a huge influence and inspiration. I’ve always talked openly with them about my work because I want them to believe they can do anything they set their minds to, but more importantly, that what they pursue should matter to them. And I also genuinely LOVE “talking shop” with my son. Lucas is incredibly smart and curious, but also very rational and objective, so he has incredibly natural business-minded and entrepreneurial gifts sort of built right into his DNA! So in many ways, he’s challenged me to keep growing over the years. And finally, my professional journey before starting my business shaped me immensely. I’ve learned from leaders, wonder mentors, and often times my team members who helped form the standards I hold today; how to lead with clarity, communicate well, stay steady under pressure, and treat people with respect. All of those influences combined are what have guided me to the work I do now.
I love this question too! The advice I’d share is to stop apologizing for what makes you unique. For a long time, my growth mindset sometimes came across as “she’s never satisfied,” but that wasn’t it at all—my JOY comes from learning, evolving, and getting better. Over time I realized that’s not something to tone down. It’s one of the ways God wired me. So many people put themselves in a box of conformity to make others feel comfortable, when the truth is: the world needs what makes you different. When you lean into your God-given strengths and show up unapologetically authentic, you serve others in a bigger way and make a greater impact. And that’s exactly how I coach. My clients know I’m going to stretch them, because I believe growth is a gift and I also believe in walking my talk. That’s why I’ve always invested in my own development through education, certifications, and staying committed to learning, because I can’t coach growth if I’m not living it too! And honestly, that’s why my business mascot is a giraffe: it’s my reminder to keep reaching, keep stretching, and keep growing.
I would say my approach to coaching and consulting is what makes my business unique because it’s a true blend of heart and strategy. I’m an extremely relational person, caring deeply about the people doing the work, so I communicate supportively and warm, but I can also be direct and very action-oriented. I help leaders align how they lead with their personal values and personalities, but then I also help them build the structure, systems, and communication habits that make that alignment real in day-to-day life. I think people connect with what I offer because it doesn’t feel canned or performative. While my work is grounded in proven leadership frameworks and business best practices, I’m not here to hand someone a generic leadership script. I listen deeply, I ask the hard questions with kindness, and I help leaders create clarity when things feel messy. Clients often tell me they feel lighter after talking with me, but also more focused and confident because they leave with a clear plan and next steps. And I’ll always say it this way: I’ll be your biggest cheerleader, but at times also your toughest coach. If you’re ready to win together, I’m ready to serve.
A surprising detail about me is that I’m way goofier than people initially expect. I come across very organized and professional, but I’m a total dork at heart. Anna can I am sure attest to this! I am not afraid to laugh at myself and have been told more than once that my very explosive cackle when I crack up at myself is quite distinctive! And if you really want a Megan fun fact: I truly do love giraffes (hence the mascot, my home décor, and even my tattoo), but I’ve always had a soft spot for magic too! I told you…a total goofy nerd at heart!
I want people to leave an interaction with me feeling seen, encouraged, and genuinely empowered, not judged or overwhelmed. Clients often describe my style as direct but understanding, and professional yet authentic, and I love that because it’s exactly what I aim for. I also want them to feel lighter and clearer, like they can finally breathe again, because they’ve sorted through the noise and now have a plan. The goal is that they leave feeling uplifted, confident, and ready to take action, not stuck spinning in their head. And honestly? I want them to feel JOY again. I love when clients rediscover confidence and even fun in their work when they start seeing themselves as capable, strong, and excited about what they’re building. If someone walks away feeling more aligned with their values, more equipped to lead, and more hopeful about what’s next, that’s the impact I want to leave behind.
Even though I don’t live in Germantown anymore, it will always feel like “home” to me. Community, to me, means roots, being shaped by people who knew you early, cheered you on, and still care about your life. It’s that small-town connection where relationships matter and people show up for one another. I value that sense of belonging and support, and it’s part of what shaped my mission today. It reminds me that leadership and work are never just about performance. They impact real people, families, and the places we come from.
That would be my four-legged office mates, hands down! They keep me grounded, make me laugh, and somehow always know when I need a break.
This probably won’t shock anyone after reading my other answers, but the most surprising thing on my bucket list is staying at Giraffe Manor in Kenya one day. It’s the ultimate giraffe-lover dream… breakfast with a giraffe… yes, please!
One thing that’s brought me unexpected joy recently has been a simple day out with my daughter, Lainey. It was one of those times where we were laughing over something that shouldn’t even be that funny (multiple things really!!), and it hits you: this is the good stuff! Watching her grow into who she’s becoming has been such a gift lately, and it made my day brighter in the sweetest, simplest, and funniest way. She is most definitely my most favorite giggling buddy!
I’m really excited about some of my passion projects that are close to my heart. I’m a founding member of the Faith Driven Entrepreneur – St. Louis chapter, and I love helping create a space where Christ-following business owners can connect, encourage one another, and grow with purpose. I’m also honored to serve as Secretary for Haystacks of Hope. I joined in the earliest stages when the mission was still being built, and what started as consulting support quickly turned into a shared calling. With my background of being around special education through my mom, and seeing my own daughter’s heart for the special-needs community, this work feels generational and full of purpose. I can’t wait to share more as it unfolds!
My ideal clients are leaders and business owners who know something in their professional world could be working better, but they may not know exactly what needs to change. On the coaching side, that might be someone navigating growth, leadership challenges, or a career transition. On the consulting side, I love working with small businesses that have grown beyond the point where the owner can keep everything in their head and personally manage every moving piece. If your team is growing, communication is getting harder, or you’re realizing you need better structure, processes, and people systems to support what you’ve built, that’s where I can help.
